Large format LCD displays, interior displays, scoreboards, ribbon, pitch and facia boards, are all meaningful technological connections to fans and guests. They serve as recognizable pieces of architecture for every venue. Working directly with our clients, AmpThink provides everything needed to design, build, implement, integrate, operate and support these incredible pieces of technology.
At the beginning of every project, we work directly with stakeholders not just to identify the infrastructure and technology needs but also the requirements and strategy for sponsorship, branding, revenue and fan engagement. With the overlap of our practices in production technology, IPTV and converged networking we are also able to help decide and implement content management solutions for all the LED's we integrate.
Creating everything from large interior displays to scoreboards, ribbon boards, pitch boards and fascia boards, AmpThink can provide an application for the distribution of still and video content on LED. Not only are we distributor for most major brands and LED panels but we're also a one stop shop for the physical implementation, installation and manufacturing and produce at scale brackets and manufacturing of secondary steal and other infrastructure required to make the products functional.
Our custom designed single button interface can swap an LED in a club or public space to a local input allowing full, unmanaged control over that display while still retaining the ability to control it from IPTV systems or production video systems.
AmpThink has a growing book of large format outdoor display business. Our team of engineers have demonstrated their ability to rethink the fabrication and installation of outdoor displays by focusing modular systems and off-site fabrication. Some of our high-profile projects have included manufacturing the mechanical cabinets for the renovation of the display affixed to One Times Square in NYC, the design and fabrication of the secondary structure for the scoreboard at the Kansas City Current, and principle design responsibility for a new marque display, fascia signage, and 8 16’ tall kiosks for Amalie Arena.
AmpThink’s roles span scopes incorporating general construction, fabrication, pre-fabrication, installation, integration, and ultimately operation of these displays. While most players in the LED space focus on a niche (OEM, reseller, installer, integrator), AmpThink has approached the LED market as the one-throat-to-choke provider coupled with open book pricing and transparency. The result is that our clients are getting more functional displays at a lower cost.
While the installation of traditional video walls is common work, redefining how those walls are constructed and used to build new business models is not. AmpThink has completed multiple projects which layered new command and control techniques over innovative installation systems to deliver faster returns on customer investments.
At the Mall of America, AmpThink retrofitted legacy Daktronics structural steel with adapter brackets, purpose built for a new Samsung display to shorten installation time. The new display allowed the Mall to replace the oddly sized advertising canvas with a16:9 format that was better suited to pop-up events and activations. Within a week of deploying the new display, the Mall was able to rent the new display to Peloton for a product demonstration that was sourced from a simple HDMI connection to a stationary bicycle. The event immediately recovered nearly 1/10th of the cost of the new display.
A similar effort at City Park in St. Louis added two 2.5mm displays to the Ultra Club to usher in new rental business leveraging the screens for multi-media presentations, slide shows, and corporate events.
AmpThink developed a best-in-industry mount which was able to true a wall to within 1/8” over a span of 37 feet - a deviation of less than 1/1000th an inch per foot.
The completed project is the largest sub-mm wall installation in North America. AmpThink’s mechanical engineering team collaborated directly with product design engineers in Korea to develop the mounting system and related control solution. The project demonstrated AmpThink’s unique ability to understand the complexities of each project and use of our rapid iteration process develop a turn-key solutions.
Once the mounting system was designed and fabricated, the AmpThink installed and integrated the wall in a yet to be publicly announced, first of its kind control room. Integration work included commissioning 8 LED control boxes and integrating them with the customer supplied CMS/video production systems.
